One of my favorite vehicles for expression is the mosaic mirror. The piece is functional, has many applications and the frame provides a unique canvas. Adding meaning to this canvas through the use of contemporary artifacts is the part that I love so much. They all tell a story and "Betsy's Brother" is no exception. My client commissioned me to do this mirror using items that belonged to her brother who had recently passed away. He was an art collector and after his death, his things were shipped to my client. Unfortunately, many of the fragile glass items arrived broken and this is what prompted the above mirror. Along with his collection of gilded wooden letters, pottery, tile, and glass goblets we embraced the passion and vibrancy that was his life.
The mirror below was another piece memorializing my clients husband. He was a patriot, loved trains, his beloved Citadel, Scotch, Christmas and his dear family - not in that order!
