Blue Cake Plate

Inspiration comes in all forms.  One of our students, a budding pastry chef,  was accepted into Johnson and Whales for the upcoming school year.  This cake plate was inspired by her love of all things "cake."  I used a red earthenware and a combo of two commercial glazes fired to cone 05.

These are a few favorites.  I like them because they marked a departure from what I had been doing.  Sometimes, I will take a concept and go with it and explore other shapes.  You can see more in "Useful Objects."  These were all constructed using stoneware clay fired to cone 5 with commercial glazes.
